Limassol will get a new 10,000 square metre park in Zakaki

Limassol will get a new 10,000 square metre park in Zakaki that will upgrade quality of life in the western suburbs, mayor Nicos Nicolaides said.

Construction of the park, which will cost €600,000, will start in the new year.

The park will be accessible for people with disabilities and is one of a number of actions to upgrade the western part of town, he added.

“The long-neglected areas and neighbourhoods especially in western Limassol will be given a facelift in the near future with projects and services that will upgrade the quality of life of citizens,” Nikolaides said.

The new park, which will be located at Gaugin street, was designed in collaboration with the ANBAU architect office of architects Alexandros Christofinis, Stelios Lakkotrypis and visual artist Maria Lianou.

Accessible to everyone, the park is dedicated to the search for a simple life and daily human needs, the architects said.

It is expected to offer green walking trails and shady resting points as well as a space for exercising.

According to the architects, there will be a provision for planting a vegetable garden and adding a composting area.
