In January 2023, the Troodos Ski Centre foundation held a stone laying ceremony, following the improvements and upgrades that have been made to the facilities in the past months. More specifically, the state has funded the centre with a sum of 2 million euros and the country’s ski club has contributed an additional 1,5 million for the renovations.
Although the Ski Centre was originally established in the late 1980s, and has been in operation for several decades, it had been neglected and there was an urgent need to modernise it and improve its standards. Therefore, the ceremony marked a new season for the ski centre and highlighted that it ca now be considered as the new ‘jewel of Troodos’.
The Troodos Ski Centre is located in the Troodos Mountains in Cyprus and is one of the few ski resorts in the Eastern Mediterranean. The ski centre features several slopes of varying difficulty levels and is equipped with ski lifts, ski rental facilities, and ski schools.
The ski season typically lasts from December to late March, depending on snow conditions, and in the next weeks it is expected that the centre will become an attractive destination for skiers and snowboarders of all skill levels, as well as tourists and visitors who want to enjoy the stunning natural beauty of the Cyprus mountains.
